First Clipper Cut!

Ryan got his first "clipper" cut haircut the day before Easter. Before I was a mom of a boy, I had never paid so much attention to boy haircuts in my life. I had no idea the difference between a "scissor cut" and a "clipper cut". Didn't understand the importance of clipper #'s...etc.

There's definitely a science to it.

Jim has been wanting to buzz the little guys hair for a few months now. I explained that that was simply NOT going to happen anytime soon. So, we compromised.

The "before" picture...

...and it begins....

it tickles!

....let me do it myself.... (don't worry it was unplugged and they took the razor thing out)...

almost done.....he did so well!!

I'd say the final result is pretty damn handsome!

Here's his "ninja pose"....;)

Not being one to be left out.....Jenna got a trim too. Thankfully...she opted out of the "clipper cut". :)

Crib Tent

So, Ryan started climbing out of his crib a few months ago and, since there is NO WAY this kid (or his parents) is ready for a toddler bed.....we opted for a crib tent.

What? You've never heard of it?

Well...it's a crazy mesh contraption that attaches to the top of the crib and you zip it up so that little monkey's can't escape.

Call me crazy...but he seems to actually really like it! And so do we!

Say WHAT?

So we are leaving our favorite store the other day.....

We get a few blocks away and Ryan is already passed out in the backseat and Jenna is tuned out (or so we thought) and tuned in to The Little Mermaid on the DVD player (a special treat since we hardly ever turn on the TV for short in town trips).

So Jim and I are having our own quiet conversation in the front seat. Speaking in loud whispers so as not to disturb the two little ones in the back.

our conversation goes something like this....

Me: "Hey, Jenna's parents live right over here somewhere." (Jenna is also the name of the receptionist in our office)

Jim: "Oh really? This is a really nice area."

...end of conversation....or so we thought...until a soft little voice pipes in from the backseat...

"So, you guys aren't my real parents??"

We almost had to pull over we were laughing so hard. Of course, we immediately explained to her that we were talking about another Jenna (who she's met).

I think the funniest part was the fact that she didn't seem all that upset about the idea of us not being her real parents.

Weekend Plans

We had BIG plans this weekend.....which included a VERY long to do list.

To start off with...there was swinging to do....

A dog to play fetch with.....

There were monkey bars to conquer...

with a little help from Daddy (even though she really can do it herself)....

and creatures to discover...

There was a slide to climb all over...

and fresh cut grass to wiggle our toes in....

...there were nooks and crannies to peek into...

and new things to destroy...

Then....later there were underwater adventures to be had...

pillow fights to be had...

and, finally, a few snuggles to fit in....

all in all I'd say it was a VERY productive weekend!!!

Easter!

Things have been so crazy lately that I haven't even had a chance to post pictures from Easter!

It started out with a little egg hunt at home. The kids woke up and went to the front yard to find out that the Easter Bunny had been busy!

He had munched on ....and then dropped the carrots we left for him....

He brought chocolate bunnies and filled their baskets with special goodies.

....in case you can tell from the pictures...

...Jenna was particularly excited about one basket gift in particular....

.....A HANNAH MONTANA DVD!!!!!!

Then...once the baskets were empty...it was time to fill them up again with all the eggs the Easter Bunny had left them....

...man that was one busy bunny! There were LOTS OF EGGS!!

Checking out the haul. (Pay no attention to the mound of unfolded laundry please!)

a stowaway!!

mmmmmm.....peeps.....

After our little egg hunt at home....we headed to my Uncle Jim and Aunt Kathy's house for some lunch and playtime.

Jim and Kathy have a large old house on a ranch with lots of things to do and places to wander and explore.

Cousin Alivia with her steer
The steer wasn't too sure....but Aunt Kathy and Alivia were bound and determined to have Jenna pet him....
Ryan and Daddy decided to watch from a safe distance
Jim and Kathy also have a fun trampoline....which I'm pretty sure is Jenna's favorite thing to play on at the ranch...
Jenna bouncing with Cousin Kailyn
Is it my turn yet guys??
Kailyn was happy to take Ryan for a bounce....
They bounced and bounced....
Until someone (and I won't name names) was all. bounced. out.
a little more playtime with the cousins (Kailyn and Haeden) before we had to move on to the next party....

Next, we headed over to Jim's Aunt Jane and Uncle Art's house for more fun and another egg hunt!!
A great action shot! Nearly caught Elizabeth in mid air! These girls are serious about their egg hunts!
Ryan...just taking it all in.
Wonder what he was thinking about all this craziness??
Checkin out the loot!
Cousin Simon trying to convince Jenna to trade him her quarters for a paper dollar. Not sure how good this trade would have been (or who would have benefitted the most) but Jenna wasn't having it...
Then, of course, Mommy had to get some pretty shots.....

All the kids...so sweet! (L-R) Elizabeth, Ryan, Jenna and Marisa.

opening MORE gifts afterwards....man these kids sure are loved!

After the hunt....we enjoyed some dessert. Including the bunny cake that Jenna and I made as a fun little surprise. HOPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
