Divine Intervention

Funny story....had to share.

A few weeks ago after a "Soccer game"....I use quotes because I don't want to imply that she was actually "playing"...., Jenna was playing on the playground at the park. She was running around and digging in the sand...etc. and happened to find a ring. No...not a diamond or precious gem type of ring that Mommy would find interesting...this was just a stretchy beaded turquoise ring with a flower on it. There weren't many little girls on the playground and we couldn't locate anyone who was looking for this little buried ring...so we let her keep it. Little did we know the daily drama that would ensue over this little treasure.

Fast forward a few days and Jenna loses the ring at Tahoe Joes.....and she pitches a fit and cries until Daddy and Poppy manage to find it for her (under the hollow booth seat cusion). Then...a few days later she drops it at the store...another fit. Then she misplaces it at Mimi and Boppa's house......oh the HORROR!! Each time she loses it...we manage to find the blasted little thing.

Fast forward a few more days to yesterday....and Jenna is T-E-A-R-I-N-G the house apart looking for her "precious" (as Daddy calls it). I hear the whining...I see the tears....I know how heartbroken she is. I've just about given up all hope when I hear the loudest yell from our bedroom.....

"THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!!!!!" booms Jenna. "THANK YOU OH THANK YOU THANK YOU JEEEEEEESUS!"

She had found the ring!

If I hadn't known better I would have thought she had regained the gift of sight on a televangilist tv show.

Yep...it's that annoying "Nuvaring" birth control commercial. I don't know who is going to need therapy first...me or her.

Flattery.....

It won't get you very far....but it is much appreciated!

We got Jenna to bed (and asleep) by 7:30 pm last night (thank you time change!!) and Jim and I were able to "enjoy" a movie (I say "enjoy" because the movie HE picked was "Don't Mess with the Zohan" and it was HORRIBLE) and I also was able to sort through some of Jenna's toys and my clothes for the yard sale this weekend.

Anyway...back to the flattery part. We got her to bed super early and she ended up waking up at 4 am this morning. I heard her little voice on the baby monitor (yes, we still use it....yes I know she's almost 3 1/2!!) saying "Mommy.....Mommy" in a really sweet way. I groaned and (looking angrily at my snoring and drooling husband) dragged my half asleep and very scary looking bedheaded self into her room and found her laying there...kinda confused....with that look that she'd like to get up but she also realizes (thankfully) that it is still very dark outside. I pull her covers up around her and try to settle her back into bed, giving her hugs and kisses and telling her to go back to sleep when she says, in the sweetest little voice I've ever heard...

"I like your shirt Mommy. You look pretty."

Awww.....couldn't you just melt?

I did. And I thanked her. Then I told her to go back to sleep.

And.....she did.

Meet Silly Baby

**Edited to add: Silly baby has another name. Jenna has always referred to her as "Silly Baby" but when you ask what her name is she says "Sarah". The other day my sister-in-law asked Jenna what "Sarah's" LAST name was....to which Jenna replied "Palin". I LOVE THIS KID!

Jenna refused to go trick or treating last night. She wanted nothing to do with it. She also refused to eat her dinner so I had a feeling something was up. She woke up at 3 am with a 102.4 degree fever (which I managed to get down with a cool bath and some Tylenol). She seems better today but we skipped soccer anyway. I'm hoping to get some pictures of her in her costume later this weekend...when she's in the mood to put it back on. Until then...I thought I'd share a few pictures of "Silly Baby"

As I mentioned in my previous post, "Silly Baby" (who is also occasionally called Sara or Julie) is Jenna's very favorite baby doll. She takes her E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E and is constantly talking to her, kissing her, feeding her, sleeping with her, teaching her to walk, doing her hair...etc. I try to keep this dolls hair in a pony tail holder...so it doesn't look quite so wild, but it usually doesn't last for long. We actually took this baby to the Wild Animal Park in San Diego last week and a few people thought it was a real baby and couldn't believe the way I was handling it, tossing it into the stroller, sticking it in my purse...etc... I guess I should be grateful no one called CPS on me!
