Jenna-ism

I overheard Jenna and her Daddy in her bedroom tonight (I was in the kitchen but could hear their conversation on the baby monitor). He had just gotten her out of the bathtub and was drying her off with her ladybug towel. He was calling her a little ladybug and she was dancing around the room (as ladybugs do) enjoying the time with her daddy. They picked out her PJ's for the evening and then she explained that she wasn't going to wear panties. When daddy asked her why she wasn't wearing panties...she explained it was "because ladybugs don't wear panties!"

Well DUH!!

1 month old!

Ryan turned 1 month old yesterday! I can't believe how quickly the time is flying by.

He celebrated his big day by catching his sisters cold. We were in doctor Latin's office yesterday for Jenna (she has a double ear infection, runny nose and a nasty cough) and today was Ryan's turn. Same cough, runny nose, no ear infections (thankfully). They are both on antibiotics and will hopefully be feeling better VERY soon!!

We did get his height and weight today. He is 11 pounds 12 ounces and 23 1/2 inches long! He's around the 75th percentile for weight and 95th for height. He's a big boy!!

I have lots more pictures to post...we've been busy busy lately (as usual). More to come soon!

Turning Pink and Gaining Weight

Just wanted to report that Ryan had his follow up doctor's appt. yesterday to check his weight and bilirubin levels. I'm happy to report that he had turned the corner and is no longer the scrawny yellow baby he was last week. He gained 6 oz over the weekend and his skin is so pink and healthy looking that Dr. Lattin didn't even require a traumatic heel poke bloodtest!

Ryan, who weighed 8 lbs 13 oz at birth and was discharged from the hospital at 8lbs 6 oz, lost even more weight and (after nearly a week of round the clock nursing) reached an all time low of just under 8 lbs last Friday, 1/2/09. It was at that point that I (with some serious urging from the Dr.) decided that it was time to give in to formula supplementing. Since then I have the worlds happiest, pinkest, healthiest little boy, who now weighs 8 lbs 6 oz again!

Here's a picture of Ryan relaxing in his little glider seat yesterday. Can you say peaceful??

Visitors

A few pictures of recent visitors....

My grandma "Mimi" holding Ryan

Aunt Jane and Cousin Marisa with Ryan (and Silly Baby)

And, for my "blogstalking" friend Julie... who visits my blog often but never leaves a message....a picture of her adorable chubby little cuddle muffin baby Cole....

and another of a grouchy (but still irresistably cute) Cole with a sleepy Ryan....hard to believe they are only 4 months apart in age...and Cole was 3 oz smaller than Ryan at birth!!

More soon!

First Bath

Ryan's umbilical cord stump fell off completely yesterday (thankfully...as that kinda grosses me out), and so he got his very first full bath last night. He wasn't thrilled at first....cried a little when we got him naked (he hates to be naked) and squawked a bit more when he first felt the water. However, once he realized how good the warm soapy water felt.....he seemed to really love it. So much so that he slept through most of the bath. It was pretty funny.

Enjoy the pictures and short video at the end!
